Nursery Assistant (L2)

Charters Day Nursery, College Road, Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire WD5 0GU

Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary:  £17,033 per annum including Location Allowance (depending on qualifications, skills and abilities)

Company/Overview:

One YMCA is recruiting for a confident, enthusiastic and motivated Nursery Assistant to join our Abbots Langley based Day Nursery team.

This job is responsible for supporting the Room Supervisor and Deputy Nursery Manager in providing a high quality nursery provision, catering for children aged from 3 months to 5 years, at the Nursery. The nursery is committed to the overarching aim of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework which guides the work of all our early years’ practitioners. The primary focus of the role is to deliver a range of high quality creative and developmental nursery activities in line with policies and practice of the Nursery that meet standards and regulatory requirements.

The key elements of the post are to:

  •       Work as a member of the nursery team, showing initiative and creativity and fostering an environment which encourages the children’s all round development and where high standards of care are provided
  •       Act as a keyworker to allocated children
  •       Encourage the participation of parents and carers
  •       Work towards and achieve the agreed Key Performance Indicators and performance objectives and ensure a high level of service is provided at all times.

Essential Knowledge, skills & Experience

  •       Qualification in childcare, level 2, or knowledge gained through significant previous experience working with young children
  •       Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework
  •       Understanding of the physical and emotional needs of young children
  •       Some experience of working or volunteering within a relevant childcare environment
  •       Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  •       Good understanding of cultural diversity in the local area and implications for the nursery provision provision
  •       Understanding of safeguarding procedures (in relation to Child Protection)
  •       Good level of applied literacy and numeracy
  •       Computer literate and ability to learn new skills
  •       Knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Outlook & Email
