The Family Centre Service brings together children’s centres, health visiting and school nursing to provide a more joined up service for children, young people and their families from pregnancy to aged 19.
One YMCA were awarded responsibility to provide the Family Support element of the service, covering the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire (Broxbourne, East Herts and Welwyn / Hatfield), with the service being commissioned by Hertfordshire County Council.
Families can enjoy the full activity programme of sessions that each District has to offer where a large range of information, advice and guidance is readily available from pregnancy right through to families with children aged 11. We will also provide more specific support for families who may require this at certain times in their lives; ensuring that families receive the right support at the right time for them.

Families accessing the service really appreciate the help of our volunteers, who are part of our friendly and welcoming team. Many of the volunteers have experienced the joys and challenges of family life and now dedicate some of their time to helping local families, carers and children to thrive. All volunteers receive full training to support them within their role, along with the support of an experienced supervisor.
