Location: East Hertfordshire

The postholder will be assigned to a YMCA Family Centre and will work across other sites as necessary.

Salary: £ 28,188 per annum. benefits include a contributory pension scheme and health cash plan.

Family Centres are places where children under 11 years old and their families can receive seamless integrated services and information.  It is also where they can access help from a range of multi-disciplinary teams of professionals.  The postholder will work in assigned Family Centres(s) providing support to the whole quadrant in the delivery of a high-quality service.

The primary focus of the role is to support the whole Family Support Service working with parents across the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire, who are expecting a baby and within the child’s first twelve months, in a way that reflects the vision of the Family Centres and supports the engagement of parents in the development and learning of their children.

The post holder is expected to have a `hands-on’ approach to the delivery of services.

         The key elements of the post are to:

  1. Plan and ensure the smooth delivery of services to local families who are expecting a baby and within their first twelve months.
  2. Promote the engagement of parents in their children’s development and learning and contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of information, advice and support to parents in order to improve outcomes for vulnerable children and their families.
  3. Work towards and achieve the agreed internal and external Key Performance Indicators and performance objectives and ensure a high level of service is provided at all times.

Knowledge , Skills and Experience

Level 4 qualification in children and young people or early years
Knowledge of the development needs of expectant parents and under 1s and the importance of empowering parents to support their child. ting
Good working knowledge and understanding of current childcare legislation, national standards and frameworks
Understanding of the importance of confidentiality
Understanding of the issues faced by diverse communities and barriers to inclusion
Good understanding of safeguarding procedures and Safeguarding Certificate
Level 3 UNICEF trained
Awareness of the roles and responsibilities of other agencies and professionals working with all children and families
