This #WorldMentalHealthDay, One YMCA is taking a #WHOLEHOUR with WHOLE Official which is presented by #IAMWHOLE. Join us on 10th October by doing something positive to support your mental wellbeing.
What is the #IAMWHOLE campaign?
Each year an estimated 20% of children and young people worldwide experience mental health difficulties. Therefore, with the #IAMWHOLE campaign, YMCA are on a mission to tackle the stigma and stereotypes surrounding mental health difficulties so no young person ever feels isolated, marginalized or discriminated against because of their mental wellbeing. The #IAMWHOLE campaign seeks to tackle stigma in three key ways:
- Talking – Starting and normalising conversations with young people about mental health
- Educating – Educating and informing young people about mental health and how to access support
- Sharing – Encouraging and empowering young people to share their mental health journey
Launched on World Mental Health Day 2016, #IAMWHOLE is a youth-led campaign that has reached more than 120 million people, but we want to go further.
You can join the #WHOLEHOUR campaign on the 10th October 2019 by taking a whole hour. Do something to support your mental wellbeing. The hour can involve anything positive. Go for a walk? Volunteer? Create a space for people to go and relax? Organise a sports session?
Pledge to the movement by posting on social media what you are going to do for the whole hour and tag #WHOLEHOUR to keep spreading the word. Resulting in people breaking the stigma and starting the conversation surrounding their mental wellbeing.
