We are URGENTLY looking for volunteers to help support the most vulnerable in our community as we respond to the coronavirus crisis.
*Role description and enquiry form below*
One YMCA’s housing division provides 446 units of accommodation for vulnerable individuals who would otherwise be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
We are looking for volunteers to support our hostels in:
- High Wycombe
- Welwyn Garden City
- Bishop’s Stortford
Our promise to you:
- Full training will be provided
- You will work alongside and be supported by members of staff in delivering these crucial services
We are looking for volunteers to help us with:
- Front of house duties
- Providing food for our residents
- Ensuring the safety of our buildings
- General maintenance tasks and cleaning
For more information please see the role description
We need to know:
- Where you can help
- When you can help
- Any specific skills you may have
Certain vetting checks including a DBS clearance (paid for by YMCA) are required. It is important to stress that we can only accept volunteers who are not considered as vulnerable in line with Public Health guidelines currently in force. This includes potential volunteers who may be also be living with someone over the age of 70 or who has any pre-existing medical conditions which make them particularly vulnerable to the Covid-19 virus.
We know this is a big ask, one we are making to ensure we can continue to support our 446 residents during this time of crisis.
Thank you from everyone at #TeamOneYMCA
Important: The very nature of this specific COVID call to action is for volunteers to specifically help us cover a minimum 8 hour shift in our hostels. We are however, seeking expressions of interest for post-COVID volunteers who are able to offer additional skills and support for service users across our whole organisation when things return to normal. Please visit our general volunteer recruitment webpage for further information about the opportunities available.
