Signpost - Home Page - One YMCA

Signpost is fully committed to the continued provision of counselling, coaching and other support to help young people aged 10-25 and living in Hertfordshire overcome problems in their lives.
Counselling provides a safe space for you to process feelings and experiences in which the counsellor will help facilitate your journey. Counselling allows you to reflect on your experiences, identify patterns of behaviour or explore coping strategies to help you navigate everyday life.

Funded Counselling Service

We have a number of funded spaces for 10-19 year olds living in Hertfordshire.

  • Early Intervention and Prevention Project for those living in Dacorum, Hertsmere, Three Rivers and Watford (funded by Hertfordshire County Council). A maximum of 12 sessions of counselling will be available for 10-19 year-olds who have not previously had support.
  • Counselling Plus Project for young people aged 10-25 who have not previously had support and living across Hertfordshire.
Self-funded Counselling Service

Due to the limited number of funded spaces, there are some self-funded places available throughout the year for children, young people and adults.

Testimonials

“Just wanted to thank you for being there, it means a lot when no one else seems to be bothered. I can hear in your voice that you do actually care. I’m depressed a lot of the time so it means a lot even if it’s once a week. Thank you.”
“Thank you for helping so much for the past few months, I really appreciate it, and all the techniques you’ve taught me will come in handy.”
“I have learned some new ways of using art. It helps me feel calm and I have made new friends’ (11 year old member of the Art group).”
“I am so appreciative of my coach’s help, and couldn’t have made the improvements I have without him.”
