We will focus on capturing better Going Green data from across our organisation, to increase our awareness and understanding of our impact on the planet. As we find new ways to connect around this cause, an ethos will emerge where green thinking will be commonplace from concept to service delivery. We will reduce our energy consumption, and improve our waste and recycling management by 50%, enabling us to have a positive impact on our environment.
Latest highlights (Apr-June 2023)
We have increased our positive environmental impact through reusable water bottles and cups at organisation-wide events, providing recycling facilities, and distributing second hand clothes. Well done everyone for turning down the thermostats and helping to reduce our gas consumption year on year by 3.5%!

Our top 25 suppliers Going Green with your children
The Going Green group found plenty to talk about at the Summit; after all it’s a big subject and it can be a little overwhelming trying to be ‘green’ in our everyday actions.
Our concept concluded that Going Green needed to feed into every Mission 25 concept and we plan to work towards making these connections moving forwards.
We aim to do this through the following KPIs:
- Reduce energy consumption month by month compared to the previous year
- Capturing Going Green data from all concept groups and departments
- Improve waste and recycling management by 50%
- We have already started to make significant savings, in fact thousands of pounds of savings, just by turning down thermostats in our buildings. Those savings can be used to help One YMCA to change and save even more lives!
